Yeah, The Blair Witch Project was done this way. No point in spending money on format. If it's any good and could make money then the distributor would still need to pump money into the post-production. Just make sure the script is good.

But what if I wanted to do this myself? The main thing I am worried about is the price. Say I had an hour of Hi-8, what would it cost me to get this into film if I payed it all myself?

The last quote I was given (about 6 months ago), to laser-etch digital video onto 35mm film to make a print worked out at approx. GB?1200 per minute. So work it out...

I was watching the Pulp Fiction collectors edition the other day and Tarantino said that if he was to make his first film again, he would film it in Hi-8 and processed it into film. Has anyone tried this technique and does it work? How would I go about doing this? How mcuh would it cost and can you do this with any hand held camcorder? I just wanting to know because I have yet to make my first 'proper' film and I want to make one as soon as possible with the littlest cost, and what Tarantino says, goes. I'd love to get that bad quality, gritty feel in a film. So, can anyone help?
